Texas Longhorn Men’s Golf Clinches Fourth Straight Big 12 Title

The No. 1 Texas Longhorn men’s golf program is arguably one of the best teams in NCAA history. The Horns broke records at Whispering Pines GC in Trinity, TX to capture their fourth straight Big 12 Championship. They closed out Sunday with a team total of 15-under par to win by twenty-six strokes over the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

The team was lead by Beau Hossler who posted 5-under par for the tournament to finish T-2nd overall. Sophomore Doug Ghim also finished inside the top-5 after carding a final round 67. Gavin Hall and Scottie Scheffler rounded out the top four players for UT with individual top-10 finishes. The Texas golf program currently has three of the top-25 collegiate golfers in the country; Hossler (#1), Ghim (#19), and Hall (#23).

Coach John Fields stated after the win, “For us to do this four years in a row is super special. I don’t take lightly all the teams in the Big 12 that have all won college golf tournaments this year. They’re all really good. This golf course is really great. For us, it all adds up to just an honor to say we are Big 12 Champions.”

Texas won five out of their last seven events to reached the No. 1 rank in the country heading into the Big 12 Tournament. After closing out the conference title on Sunday, the Horns will head to the NCAA Regionals as heavy favorites.
