Fullerton completed a season sweep of UCLA with a 10-7 non-conference victory Tuesday night at Goodwin Field.
In a game that went deep into the night, the Titans got a four-hit game, including a home run from Junior Timmy Richards and four RBI night from freshman Ruben Cardenas to lead the team over the Bruins, who had their four-game winning streak snapped. Brett Conine picked up the win after tossing two innings and only allowing one unearned run. Fullerton made good use of their bullpen, using six pitchers after starter, Gavin Velasquez only managed two innings.
After taking the lead in the first inning, the Bruins were only able to maintain their lead until the third inning when the Titans scored six runs, three due to UCLA errors, maintaining the lead until the end of the game. The Bruins showed signs of life in the top of the ninth scoring three runs, but came up short after superb plays from center-field and the third-basemen.
With Timmy Richards homerun, the Titans now have 18 in the season, with 14 coming off playing at Goodwin Field. Last year the Titans only managed to hit 20 home runs the entire season.
Fullerton will resume Big West Conference play this weekend as the Titans head to UC Irvine for a three-game set beginning Friday night at 6:30 p.m.
